@Deetranada from season 3 of Jermaine Duprees “The Rap Game” @MsLashaunTurner 5/23/18

Born June 25th, 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland (as Diamond Barmer), Deetranada captured the public’s attention at the young age of 15 when she was selected to compete on Lifetime’s 3rd season of Jermaine Dupri’s “The Rap Game”. She took the stage with the confidence of a seasoned professional, and made a name for herself, drawing attention from the judges and media. Having concluded the competition as the second runner-up, her extensive fan base signifies Deetranada had transitioned from a reality television show contestant into a powerful, emerging rapper and hip hop artist.

Drawing inspiration from Joey Badass, J.I.D., Lauryn Hill, and Kanye West, Deetranada began writing her own music pulling from the trauma she experienced having been bullied in school. Channeling the hurt and anger she endured, she transformed her emotions into dynamic lyrics. Her songs embody her gallant stage presence with a sound unique to Dee and lyrics that resonate with her fans.  The singer’s poetic verses and commanding freestyle ability not only push the boundaries for female rappers, but for all music artists in the industry today. While some say her songs are more “masculine,” Deetranada responds back with, “I am here to show that it is okay to be a tomboy while still showing vulnerability to my fans.” What once began as a creative outlet for her mind, has now launched the teen into a major rap career, including the release of her most recent album, Adolescence Swim.

Although she is young, her proven musical prowess has built her a following and propelled her into the big leagues. While Deetranada’s star-status rises, she still believes in making personal connections with her fans and staying true to her sound and self. Writing mainly about what she sees and experiences, Dee also recognizes her calling to “show the world how powerful Baltimore is artistically,” despite the assumed reputation that may surround her hometown.

Aside from attracting a widespread fan base, Deetranada has also received several large brand endorsements from Timberland, DTLR, Puma, and K-Swiss. She is currently signed to the label and management company, M.D.M. Entertainment with her music available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Pandora.       With a following of nearly 750k on social media, her rapidly growing fan base, and raw talent, there is no denying that Deetranada is on the up-and-up. She describes her impact on a crowd with the quote, “Whether they know me or not, I can make a crowd vibe with me by the end of my set.” It is this infectious personality and captivating sound that provides Deetranada with a solid foundation on the road to stardom.
