Los Angeles County officials set the deadline this week to reopen restaurants, malls and retail stores by Independence Day as stay-at-home orders continue to take a toll on nearly every industry, from retail to TV and film production.
Governor Newsom says mass gatherings ‘not in the cards’ when California lockdown is lifted however.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom outlined plans to reopen the state’s economy but indicated mass gatherings such as sporting events will not be permitted in the near future.
“The prospect of mass gatherings is negligible at best until we get to herd immunity and we get to a vaccine,” Newsom said. “So large-scale events that bring in hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of strangers altogether across every conceivable difference, health and otherwise, is not in the cards based upon our current guidelines and current expectations.”
