Black News: Former Officer Kim Potter to be charged with 2nd degree manslaughter in shooting death of Daunte Wright-video
A prosecutor said Wednesday that he will charge Kim Potter, the former suburban Minneapolis police officer, with second-degree manslaughter for killing 20-year-old Black motorist Daunte Wright in a shooting that ignited days of unrest and clashes between protesters and police.
On April 11, 2021, Daunte Demetrius Wright, a 20-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot by police officer Kimberly Ann Potter during a traffic stop and attempted arrest for outstanding warrants in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. After being shot, Wright attempted to flee but crashed his vehicle into another and hit a cement barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
