
It’s a health-care nightmare right now in Los Angeles County. For the last few weeks during the COVID-19 surge, the region’s ICUs have had 0% capacity available. When there’s no space at hospitals, ambulances have to handle the overflow.
L.A County ambulance crews are told not to transport patients with little chance of survival
“Hospitals are declaring internal disasters and having to open church gyms to serve as hospital units,” County Supervisor Hilda Solis said. “Our health care workers are physically and mentally exhausted and sick.” “This order that was issued by the county emergency medical services really is very specific to patients who suffered from cardiac arrest and are unable to be revived in the field,” (CNN)
