
Minneapolis police have released a short clip from an officer’s body camera showing the deadly confrontation and shooting of a black man outside a Holiday gas station on the city’s south side Wednesday evening, Dec. 30, 2020. It was the first killing by Minneapolis police since George Floyd’s death on May 25 less than a mile away.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while being arrested for allegedly using a counterfeit bill. During the arrest Derek Chauvin, a white police officer with the Minneapolis Police Department, knelt on Floyd’s neck for about nine and a half minutes.
