Sinbad’s family confirmed on Monday that the the stand-up comedian has suffered a stroke and is recovering. “Sinbad is a light source of love and joy for many generations,” the comedian’s family said. “While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon.” “Our family thanks you in advance for your love and support and ask for continued prayers for his healing. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time,” the family statement read.
Sinbad became known in the 1990s from being featured on his own HBO specials, appearing on several television series such as Coach Walter Oakes in A Different World (1987-1991) and as David Bryan on The Sinbad Show (1993-1994), and starring in the films Precious (2009) playing Butler ‘Mr. Feathersworth’. He has also starred in Necessary Roughness, Houseguest, First Kid, Jingle All the Way, Good Burger, and Planes (2013).
